DIVORCE COACH & MARRIAGE RECOVERY
FAQ
Comprehensive Answers
WILL MY SESSIONS BE CONFIDENTIAL? – (will anything be recorded?)
All sessions are confidential. The only time a therapist may need to breach your confidentiality and
share information with third parties is they we believe you may be at serious risk of harm from either
yourself or someone else, or that you may pose a serious risk of harm to others. A client/practitioners
agreements will highlight this.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND WITH A PARTNER?
If you have already decided on a separation and are looking for a divorce coach, the relationship
would be between the individual and the therapist. As it is a very sensitive transition period where
your Divorce coach is there to support you as an individual in confidential sessions. However, for
sessions covering co-parenting, it would be beneficial for both partners to attend if possible.
In Marriage recovery coaching, it is recommended that both couples attend as the recovery will be
faster and longer lasting. However, it is possible to make improvements to a relationship working with
just one partner in some circumstances.
CAN I COME TO A SESSION EVEN IF MY PARTNER DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE PART?
In marriage recovery sessions, both partners attending would need to participate in therapy. It would
not be appropriate to have one partner observing. If they are not willing to participate, then it would be
more beneficial to work just with the partner whom is willing to take part.
HOW TO GET THE BEST OUT OF MARRIAGE RECOVERY THERAPY
Make your appointments a priority as consistency is key.
Be willing to take risks and try new things
Take responsibility for your mental health – If when you visited your GP and they asked ‘what brings
you in today?’ and you just shrug your shoulders, you would leave the surgery without having
received any care.
The more feedback I get from my clients about what is working and what is not working for them, the
more I can tailor my services to be more effective.
CAN I PARK EASILY AT THE LOCATION?
There is an allocated parking spot for clients at the premises available to clients within a 10 minute
window of their appointment. It is essential that meetings are kept confidential so please do not arrive
too early as there will be no access to parking outside your allocated appointment time.
